Gauksmżri Lodge plans to open a new restaurant in Hvammstangi in the coming weeks/months. The restaurant is named Sjįvarborg and will be located in the same building that houses The Icelandic Seal Center, but on the upper floor.
Sjįvarborg plans to open for lunch at the beginning of March and to begin with the lunch menu will consist of the same food that is served from the elementary school canteen, which is coocked at the same place. For the lunch menu you will be able to choose from three different payment options; 1) buy a single meal, 2) buy a meal-card for ten meals and 3) subscribe and get monthly billings. More informations regarding this will be announced when the date of the restaurant opening is confirmed. Sjįvarborg hopes to be open during evenings and weekends around Easter-time.
The name of the restaurant, Sjįvarborg, refers back to the story of the house Sjįvarborg, or Möllershouse, that stood on the oceanridge. The house had been moved three times and now it stands at Spķtalastķgur 1 in Hvammstangi. It is believed to be the oldest house in Hvammstangi.
