Hóp

Hóp is the fifth largest lake in Iceland, covering up to 44 square kilometers. Fishing is allowed in the lake but it has several very good fishing spots. Arctic char, trout and sea trout can be found there along with salmon. But salmon goes through the lake and into the rivers Víðidalsá and Gljúfurá. On low tide a sand bridge appears on the lake which becomes a popular horse riding route, although riding over water is needed on the west end of it to make it all way over.
